So, take a look to the following activity:

Activity 1. READING. Read the following text about Greta Thunberg:

Greta Thunberg is the Swedish teenager who skipped school and inspired an international movement to fight climate change.
She has become a leading voice, inspiring millions to join protests around the world. 
But who is she and what does she want?
She is a 17-year-old who grew up in Stockholm, in Sweden. Greta's mother, Malena Ernman, is an opera singer and former Eurovision Song Contest participant.
Her father Svante Thunberg, is an actor, and is a descendant of Svante Arrhenius, a scientist who came up with a model of the greenhouse effect. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1903.
The elder of two girls, she says she learned about climate change when she was eight, but that her parents were not climate activists.

She held a sign that read "School Strike for Climate" and began regularly missing lessons to go on strike on Fridays, urging students around the world to join her.
Her protests went viral on social media and as support for her cause grew, other strikes started around the world, spreading with the hashtag #FridaysForFuture.
By December 2018, more than 20,000 students around the world had joined her in countries including Australia, the UK, Belgium, the US and Japan. She joined strikes around Europe, choosing to travel by train to limit her impact on the environment.

What has she done since then?

The teenager took the whole of 2019 off school to continue campaigning, to attend key climate conferences, and to join student protests around the world.
In September 2019, she travelled to New York to address a UN climate conferenceGreta refuses to fly because of its environmental impact, so she made her way there on a racing yacht, in a journey that lasted two weeks.
When she arrived, millions of people around the world took part in a climate strike, underlining the scale of her influence. Addressing the conference, she blasted politicians for relying on young people for answers to climate change.
She said: "How dare you? I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean, yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you?"

Googleclassroom Activity : BUILDING A GREENER FUTURE

DO YOU KNOW WHAT???????              WE'RE GOING TO HELP THE ENVIROMENT !!!!! 

WE CAN HELP AS GRETA DOES! 

HOW?        PAY ATTENTION!

We are going to participate in an amazing proyect called “Un futuro más verde… por crear” .
It is organized by ESCUELAS ANDALUZAS POR EL CLIMA (https://escuelasandaluzasporelclima.blogspot.com/).
As you know , this is a crosscurricular proyect, that is, 
some of your teachers are going to ask you the same task, but, 
although you can use the same picture, you must do it in English.


Básicamente se trata de:
  1. Elaborar una pancarta en cartulina, tela… o en soporte digital con temática libre y dependiendo del formato debéis exponerlas en vuestros balcones, ventanas y/o publicarlas en las redes el día 5 de junio (#DiaMundialDelMedioAmbiente #PorLaNaturaleza #UnFuturoMasVerdePorCrear). 
El idioma que debéis utilizar es inglés.
  1. Todas las pancartas deberán llevar el lema indicado “BUILDING A GREENER FUTURE".
  2. Cada alumno y alumna entregará una foto de su pancarta en el caso de que sea en formato soporte físico o la pancarta en formato digital por Googleclassroom.

  1. Hay dos fechas de entrega:

  • Fecha de entrega día 25 de mayo: a nivel de Andalucía  realizarán un vídeo con todas las fotos aportadas para su publicación hasta ese día. Este vídeo de todos los centros de Andalucía que participen, se compartirá en su momento también en la página web del IES Aznalcóllar.
  • Fecha de entrega día 1 de junio: con las fotos entregadas se hará un vídeo hasta esta fecha y el 5 de junio se publicará en la web del IES. 

Como habrás visto la diferencia entre una fecha y otra es que si la entregas hasta el 25 de mayo se publicará tu foto a nivel Andalucía y si la entregas el 1 de junio a nivel de nuestro centro.

La nota será la misma, tanto si se entrega el 25 de mayo o el 1 de junio.
